Dr. Brian Melrose // #ClinicalTuesday // www.ptonice.com

In today's episode of the PT on ICE Daily Show, Spine Division faculty member Brian Melrose discusses the role of breath during manipulation techniques in physical therapy. Brian shares his insights on a common question: should therapists cue patients to breathe during manipulation? Brian takes a clear stance against incorporating breath work, explaining that it can hinder the effectiveness of the manipulation and the therapist's ability to identify the barrier. He reflects on his own journey, noting that his views have evolved since his early career when he was taught to use breath to help patients relax. Tune in to learn why excluding breath may lead to better outcomes for both therapists and patients.
